Mercedes-Benz takes the initiative to introduce the new E-Class that prevents the driver from dozing off. The company will contribute a lot in lowering the 100000 crashes and 1500 deaths on US roads on a yearly basis.

The E-Class release will have a drowsy driver detection system that will echo on a cup of coffee when the driver’s conditions are favorable to a road mishap.

The car company claims that the system is an independent monitoring of fatigue that depends on the behavior of the driver while on the road. It is designed to activate attention assist signals when it detects low level of alertness of the driver.

Studies show that what Mercedes-Benz is imploring with the E-class is far more effective than first thought camera system for monitoring drowsiness. During the experiment 600 drivers were fitted skull caps to monitor their brainwaves. They concluded that there were 70 parameters that are more effective that using cameras for their purpose of improving car safety.

After evaluations, the car manufacturer decided to install a more accurate steering sensor in its cars to aid the function of the Attention Assist technology. The system also monitors how drivers brake, accelerate, road conditions, and time to decide if the driver needs some wake up reminders.

Previous studies concluded that the risk for accidents double after being on the road for 4 hours. This risk is eight times higher after 6 hours of driving and the driver most of the time fails or ignores signs of fatigue and drowsiness.
